We Built AI Agents to Do the Work That Slows Legal Teams Down

I’ve spent the better part of a decade talking with in-house legal teams about what makes their jobs harder than it needs to be. The answer is almost never “we don’t know what to do.” It’s always “we don’t have the time or people to do it all.”

Almost every in-house lawyer I talk to is dealing with the same tension: the business needs legal to move faster without adding headcount or increasing risk. The workload just keeps growing.

And the daily drag here isn’t lack of intelligence or judgement. It’s everything around it. Chasing business teams for missing information. Documenting your review standards so the next person can follow them. Coordinating across teams. Capturing records in one place. These tasks are necessary, but they’re the reason lawyers end up staying late to get to the strategic work that actually requires their judgement and moves business forward.

Introducing LegalOn Agents

That’s why this launch means so much to me. We’re releasing LegalOn Agents, five specialized AI agents built for in-house teams.

These agents don’t just answer questions or summarize documents. They do actual legal tasks and deliver work that’s ready for an attorney to review and trust. They work inside the workflows legal teams already use, under full attorney control. And they accomplish work that once took hours, in seconds.

In practice, these agents mean faster turnarounds, fewer back and forths, more consistent application of standards, and more time for the work that drew most of us to the profession in the first place.

The agents work within the LegalOn Assistant, which is both a great starting point for teams just beginning to explore AI and a strong foundation for teams ready to go further. Together, they support hundreds of real-world legal workflows, adapting to different contract types, jurisdictions, and customer standards.

If you’d like to see LegalOn Agents in action, join me on February 26 at 9:00 AM PT for a live walkthrough on how they handle core legal workflows.

Meet the Agents

Each agent tackles a different area of in-house work that our customers describe as painful time sinks:

  • Playbook Agent: Most teams have review standards, but they live in people’s heads or in scattered documents that are hard to maintain. This agent takes your existing templates or guidelines and turns them into AI playbooks, so your standards are documented, consistent, and AI can review and redline contracts.
  • Intake Agent: If you've ever spent your morning chasing down deal details or asking the same clarifying questions for the tenth time that week, you know the pain. This agent responds to legal service requests from business teams by automatically gathering missing information so you don't have to.
  • Translate Agent: For teams operating across borders, this one is a game-changer. It translates contracts in dozens of languages into your native language, and precisely translates your redlines back into the original language. No more waiting on specialized translation support to keep global deals moving.
  • Triage Agent (in use by early access partners): This agent handles high-volume, low-risk contracts by running fully automated reviews that either approve compliant agreements or flag issues for legal review. The goal here is to clear the routine work off your desk so you can focus where your judgment matters most.
  • Draft Agent (coming soon): This agent takes existing templates, clause libraries, and deal-specific inputs and creates a review-ready draft in minutes. When you ask the LegalOn Assistant to draft something, the Draft Agent manages the whole workflow: pulling the right precedent, asking clarifying questions, and delivering a draft directly in Microsoft Word.

Why now

These agents are possible today because of how fast AI has advanced, and how we’ve chosen to build on top of it.

The length of tasks that LLMs can complete is doubling every seven months. Just last week, Anthropic, a general-purpose AI company, released a plug-in capable of providing some useful insights on a contract review or a regulatory scan.

But better models alone don’t get legal work done.

Legal teams need outcomes: standards applied consistently across every contract, reviews and edits made precisely in Word, intake processes that gather the right information from stakeholders without endless email chains, and lawyers staying in control through all of it. Those are the outcomes we’re delivering with LegalOn Agents.

Our agents are built from the ground up by our team of attorneys, trained on trusted legal content, and designed to operate within the specific workflows in-house teams use every day. They plan, reason, and carry out multi-step workflows, while keeping legal teams in the loop for guidance, validation and final decisions.

What’s next

We’ll continue to expand what our agents can do, and we’re always looking for partners to help shape what’s next.

At LegalOn, we’re committed to building practical systems that expand your legal team’s productivity – empowering you to move faster and take on projects that were previously too expensive or time-consuming.

We've always believed that the right way to build legal AI is to start with how lawyers actually work and build tools that make them better at it. These agents are the next big step in that direction, and we’re excited to get them into your hands.
